Scouting trail, riding bikes, building trail and New Years...oh my

lots going on the last few days.

Tuesday started out with me meeting Sean at a site we hope to build trails to look at some of the property where we want to build a series of bridges, ladders and teeters for kids up to anyone else. Nothing super hard just plain fun and very little risk if you ride off them wrong. We found a really cool "rock garden". The rocks are bigger than my truck and there are lots of them out there

We are going to submit a grant to help fund it and some other things at Signal Hill.
At the shop, Jeff and I have got inventory almost finished, just need to see where we have messed anything up, and since Jeff brought Seth(his oldest)to help him with inventory of the old stuff upstairs we had one extra for the night ride. We headed out and met Matt at the trail and did a full lap. Signal Hill is in really good riding shape for this time of year and I really like the new additions.

Always good to hang out after a ride as wellPhotobucket

We hoped back on the greenway to take everyone to see our new found rock garden(the hopeful trail will connect to Signal Hill via the Statesville greenway)

The next morning Sean, Darrell and I met back out at Signal Hill at 8am to work on a few more projects. We ended up moving a ton of dirt, one on a benched hillside and the other keeps us out of a really nasty bottom BUT in order to do it we would have to put in a culvert and do a bunch of work to the hillside after the culvert.

Ride over the logs/hill and down to the culvert

Starting the culverts

The hillside on the other end of the culverts had to be dug out a bunch and we got into some really really really really really really soft dirt so we went back up to the "grateful shed" where we had spotted an old pile of broken cinder block to put into the ground to firm things up for us

When going to get cinder block please remember that the old airfield remains pretty dang soft when you think that you can use it to turn around in, I might have got the truck a little on the stuck side(thanks to Sean and Darrell for pushing)

8.5 hours of work time we called it an end to the day and went home to get ready for some party time for New Years. Lots of good times were had and we even broke out some NES 8 bit to see who had the best gun in the west...i think I won

Brandon and Lisa did give me one of the coolest gifts ever, its a bacon scented candle....in case you didnt hear that A BACON SCENTED CANDLE

Hope everyone has a great 2009, come ride with us or just swing by the shop and say hey some time.
